Tuesday

A mixed day today. The weather was a bit damp to start with, so we did some shopping in Acle.

Then on to Upton, where we were going to have a picnic and a walk. But it was still wet, so we went to. Ranworth instead. Very pretty with boats moored on the broad.

After lunch, we left Barney in the car and walked to a wildlife visitor centre floating on the broad. Interesting but as always, not much wildlife actually around…

Then back to Upton for our walk along the River Bure.

This is a disused windpump that is now used (possibly) as accommodation.

Pub Time

We’ve walked down to the local pub, and after a long chat with the signalman at the level crossing, settled down in armchairs with beer and cider. The pub is on the River Yare, and we can see the occasional boat go by.

Progressive Lunch

Today was spent joining the village on a ‘Progressive Lunch’ which was around 50 of us eating different courses in houses in local villages, with a 6 mile walk. All was well until the last leg, where we got rather wet in a short thunderstorm. After drying out, we ended up with cheese and biscuits in the local village hall – appropriate as the day was to raise money for the same. Everyone made us very welcome and Barney made lots of new friends.

Reedham ferry

We have walked along the river Yare from our cottage to Reedham ferry. Very long grass by the river bank but the sun is shining and it’s quite warm and pleasant outside. Just having a beer before continuing into Reedham
