While madam browses the Petworth shops, Barney and I are enjoying Petworth Park. Nice to walk on dry ground for a change, and, occasionally, the sun even makes an appearance.

First time I have had chips in an enamel mug…

The rain has finally stopped, so we are getting some culture. This is the Doric Temple at Petworth House.

We walked to the pub through these woods (not really a park at all). Lots of chestnuts on the ground, but a bit damp underfoot.

We managed to get to the pub before it rained though, which was a bonus.

An excellent pub, good beer, food and service. Dog friendly as well.

After a long lunch, we walked back in the rain, which was quite heavy at times. Though the sun eventually returned. Found a few geocaches on route.

We are now at our ‘cottage’ near Petworth. Set in deep woods, but with a balcony off the bedroom and a nice covered area outside.  All very peaceful.
And decent wifi, which makes life so much easier.

Took the dog for a very nice walk through the estate woodlands this morning.
Just time for a quick cup of tea before looking at the gardens in the rain.

Overlooking Cheltenham, on Leckhampton Hill. We had a lovely 8.5 mile walk in the sunshine – much warmer than the weather forecast had suggested.
