Another day on the trains today.
We walked to the local station, and caught a couple of trains to Freital
Then on to another narrow gauge steam train to Dippoldiswalde.
We then caught the same train back again, but this time sitting outside
Then a normal train back to Dresden.
Despite the weather forecast being a bit damp, today has proved to be dry and warm.
After a swim in the hotel pool, we wandered out to find some supper and found a lovely bistro and had a simple but excellent meal washed down with lots of beer.
2nd try…
We took a tram to the nearest railway station :
Then a double decker train for a short journey outside Dresden, then a narrow gauge steam train from the days of the communist era
to Moritzburg.
We then walked to Moritzburg Schloss
Had an amble around the lake, then a very pleasant beer
then walked back to the train. We sat in an open carriage this time – parts of the route run along side the road…
Then another train back to Dresden, and a tram back to the hotel.
Had a walk round the old town – mostly pedestrianised so quiet.

Hotel seems good as well. Let’s hope the weather holds
Finally here…
After a good breakfast at the hotel, we returned to Nuremburg station.
After a bit of confusion getting on the right part of the right train (which changed platforms 10m before departure), we are travelling through lovely forest scenery to Dresden.

An hour later than scheduled, we finally reached Nuremburg, and after a short walk to our hotel, sat straight down to Dinner while our bags were portered to our room. Such luxury!
It was a good dinner, but so late that bed was calling.
The first part of this leg follows the Rhein Valley, with extensive views of the river along the way.
After changing from Eurostar to a Thames train at Brussels, we’ve reached Cologne.
Our train to Nuremburg has been delayed a bit.
After a rather early start, we are safely at St Pancras awaiting boarding our train.
