What a lovely view from the balcony of our hotel room!
The sun is shining (unsurprisingly) and we are having a tour of the old town today.
Had a surprisingly good meal in the hotel this evening (preceded by a welcome number of large Leffe beers).
We then went for a short stroll along the Canal du Midi and the local park before unpacking and settling down.
Even this late in the evening it is very warm – why do we live in England?
A good journey (though Gare de Lyon was very busy, with what seemed like the middle half of it fenced off).
As we got further south, the temperature has been rising and is now 35°.
Then, 20 miles from Carcassonne, the train ground to a halt. “Problem with the track at Carcassonne – only 20 minutes delay”. Which of course got longer and longer… Then it was going to be 2 hours, but in the end it was only a 55 minute delay.
And as it was the last train of our day, we didn’t miss any connections.
We decided to risk going inside the pub for our 2nd beer. A lovely area with comfy armchairs – could have spent all afternoon there…
Toby did very well for the first time he’d been in a pub, though did tend to lunge at the staff carrying plates of food.
Barney just went to sleep…
After finding a few geocaches, we strolled back home along the canal.
