A bit of culture this afternoon – rather full of noisy kids, and badly signposted, but interesting nevertheless. 

And a loco in steam, so that’s a bonus!

A brilliant hide – the front of the ‘Caution’ box lifts up to get to the the geocache inside. 

We’ve now caught the tram to Eccles and are enjoying an early beer. 

We’ve just taken the tram here – an interesting journey. It’s very quiet compared to the city centre! 

This is the new home of the BBC ‘up north’ and various other media companies. All reminiscent of London Docklands in the early days. 

An uneventful journey on the train this morning.

 We dropped our bag off at the hotel and went to explore Manchester. Though not before a quick beer or two… 

Manchester Victoria station is being renovated, and is a good mixture of old and new. 

We had a look around the cathedral 

Then walked along the River Irwell to the ‘People’s History Museum’ (think Tolpuddle Martyrs and Trades Unions), which Tina found more interesting than I did.

Straightforward journey to Euston – we are on our way to Manchester.
