This is an unusual concrete pier dating from 1958, and was quite surreal in the mist.

Deal
We’ve walked up the coast to Deal, a good path but it’s still a bit misty.
This is Deal Castle, which we’ll probably visit this afternoon.
Walmer Castle
It’s a bit gloomy today, so we’ve headed to Walmer and are currently visiting the castle.
An interesting place with nice gardens.
White Mill
This afternoon’s visit was to White Mill heritage center, run by enthusiastic volunteers.
An interesting place, with lots of tools and accoutrements from times past.
Unfortunately the Windmill itself is under repair, but hopefully will be finished in 5 years or so…
East Kent Railway
A play on the local heritage railway line today.
Not the biggest heritage railway, but quaint in its own sweet way.
Only 2.5 miles of line to the other end, but it does include a tunnel.
There was also a good model railway (in a railway carriage!)
Sandwich Part 2
After our nice lunch, we explored Sandwich a bit moreThen walked back over the dunes to the car.A nice day.
Sandwich
We’re in deepest East Kent, and have parked on the coast near Sandwich Bay.
It’s actually not as cold as the photo suggests…
After a brief explore of the beach, we walked across the dunes (and a golf course) into Sandwich.
We’re now in a pub waiting for our lunch…
