We drove down the motorway towards Cork this morning. The weather was a bit miserable so we didn’t stop on route.
We then spent the afternoon in Cobh, from where many Transatlantic liners left, including the Titanic.
A lovely quiet town with a lot of history.
We walked up to the Titanic Memorial Gardens, with information boards and a clever display made from box:
Then on to the cathedral, quite understated compared to some European ones.
Our final visit was to the heritage centre, which was in the old railway station, where we learnt more than we needed about the Titanic and other shipping from Cobh.
Some good displays though.
We used a small ferry to get across the river to Cork:
And then on to our B&B for the next two nights.
