American Museum

This afternoon, our ‘cultural’ visit was to this museum, located in a large manor house just outside Bath.

All very interesting, with many recreated rooms from different periods of American history

And knowledgeable and helpful guides, which makes such a difference.

Dundas Aquaduct

Despite the gloomy weather forecast, it’s actually nice and sunny, so we walked along the Kennet and Avon canal to Dundas Aquaduct. Lots of activity with boats!

And a nice viaduct, which crosses the Avon and the railway.

Westonbirt

A trip to Westonbirt Arboretum today. Weather was a bit dull, but the colours of the trees made up for it.

Then on to Dyrham Park, which is undergoing major roof work. A lift and walkway have been provided so we can see the work

Lacock Abbey

We are at Lacock Abbey today, much more interesting than I remember!

Lovely grounds, with many plants still flowering.

The Abbey (used as a home for years) was fascinating, including the window that was used for Talbot’s first photograph

And the sun is shining…

Bath

An interesting day in Bath yesterday. Horrible traffic into the town, so we gave up visiting the centre in the morning and went the long way round… Eventually reached the school were Tina’s dance festival was being held. Grotty weather as well!

Today is different. The sun is shining and there is just a gentle breeze.
I’m off on a short morning walk in the pleasant countryside

Pub later!
