A better day today, so we’ve strolled along the canal to Gloucester Docks. We’ve found a dog friendly pub on the quayside – though it’s nice enough to sit outside.

A bit damp this morning, so we’re having a quiet time indoors before wandering up to the pub.
Toby is getting better by the hour, and seems to have settled down with Barney being in the house.

Turned out to be a good day in the end. The lower part of the canal is mostly restored, though we’ve yet to see a moving boat.

After a couple of beers in a dog friendly pub nearby, we’ve stopped for lunch:

A nice sunny morning so far…

A 10 mile walk in the countryside today, starting at Coopers Hill – this is the hill where the daft locals chase cheeses down the hill once per year. It is rather steeper than it looks in this photo:

Then along the Cotswold Way and other woodland to a rather nice pub:

After a beer and some lunch, we walked through the Cotswold Commons and Beechwoods National Nature Reserve (which was quite nice), then through many other woodlands back to the top of Coopers Hill:

It looks a lot steeper from the top!

Another glorious day for walking – we walked along the canal towpath into Gloucester to buy a new phone and a couple of beers, then revisited a nature reserve nearby that offers peace and tranquillity (at least compared to a city centre). Then back to Quedgeley. Only 9.5 miles today, but still enough justify another beer or two this evening.

This is a photo of Hempsted Church – a tiny village squeezed between the River Severn and the canal.

We went for a long walk today along the canal, across fields, along the River Severn and back along the canal – 13 miles in total. Weather was good, but many of the paths didn’t seem to have been used much and were very overgrown.
