Boats on the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal.

Today’s walk was a bit shorter, at 11.5 miles. But almost all flat, as it followed the River Severn and canal for almost all of its route.

As you can just see from the photo, this footpath goes under rather than over. Strange west country folk…

There are plans to restore the canal here and make this a working lock again.

To be fair, the River Severn is a mere 100 yards away, and in flood conditions, will reach the sign. But one can’t help feeling that this isn’t money well spent.
