We had been encouraged to visit this second hand book store in Alnwick, and are glad we did. It’s in the old Alnwick Station building

There are comfy chairs, a cafe, and lots of books. And a model railway! 

We’re at Alnwick Castle and Gardens today. Well preserved castle, but horribly touristy, expensive and not really that interesting. 

We’ve escaped for a beer – the gardens this afternoon… 

After lunch in Craster, we walked along the coast to the castle 

The wind was behind us this time, which was nicer. 

As with most ruins, there wasn’t much to see, but the views from the castle were worth the walk up. 

We then carried on along the coast back to the car. A really nice day today.

As promised, a fishy lunch at Craster. Best rollmops ever.

We’re combining a walk with a castle visit today. Lovely weather, but a stiff breeze on the tops. 

We are currently awaiting our lunch in a pub in Craster (famous for its kippers), and will visit the castle this afternoon.

Earlier, we had a stroll on the beach near St Aidans Dunes:

All so quiet! 

We’re on Lindisfarne today, nice place and weather, though a bit breezy. The village isn’t as  crowded as I expected it to be from all over the cars crossing the causeway.

Due to tides, we’re now stuck here until later this afternoon,but the pub is open…

We had a short walk around the sands and dunes of Budle Bay (near Bamburgh) this morning,then walked to our local pub for lunch.

An enormous quantity of lovely food, and good beer. What more could one want?

After a lengthy journey up the A1, Tina and I have finally arrived at our cottage, which is a few miles from Bamburgh (on the Northumberland coastline).

The cottage is very nice, and has functional WiFi but no mobile signal! 

Time for a beer…
